    Compounding and masterbatches: base polymer resin is often compounded with additives — colourants (masterbatch pellets carrying 30–70% pigment in a resin carrier), flame retardants, UV stabilisers, impact modifiers, antistatic agents, reinforcements (glass fibre, carbon fibre, mineral fillers).     How do I specify a polymer for quotation?
    Give us: (1) polymer family (HDPE, PP, PVC, PA6, etc.), (2) grade designation if known (Reliance RMPL-HDPE 6006, ExxonMobil HD 7755, etc.) — manufacturer-specific grade codes define the properties precisely; (3) MFI (melt flow index) in g/10 min at standard test conditions for processability control; (4) target application (injection moulding, blow moulding, film, extrusion pipe, fibre); (5) density for PE grades; (6) any additive or modification (UV-stabilised, food-grade, flame-retardant, impact-modified, fibre-reinforced); (7) colour (natural, or to colour-standard like RAL, Pantone); (8) compliance (FDA food-contact, EU 10/2011, REACH, UL 94); (9) quantity; (10) packaging (25 kg bag vs 1 MT jumbo bag vs bulk).     Are Indian virgin resins compliant with EU food-contact and REACH?
    Yes. Indian major producers (Reliance, IOC, GAIL, Haldia, and others) produce REACH-registered virgin polymer grades and food-contact-compliant grades (FDA 21 CFR, EU Regulation 10/2011 — Plastics Regulation). Compliance certification accompanies the shipment with CoA specifying the grade, batch number, and relevant migration limits. For direct food-contact applications (packaging, caps, beverage bottles, dairy), additional compliance testing (global migration, specific migration of monomer residues) is supplied on request. Under REACH, polymers are exempt from substance-registration (Article 6.3) but the monomer and additives are subject to registration — confirmed at supplier level.
    What's the typical MOQ for polymers?
    Commodity virgin resins (HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, PP, PVC, PS, PET, ABS) in common grades: MOQ 1 × 20 ft container (approximately 18–22 MT depending on density), which is the break-even for export freight and packaging. For less-common grades or colours: 5–15 MT minimum with per-kg premium. For engineering thermoplastics (PA, PC, PBT, POM, PPS): 5–15 MT MOQ depending on grade availability. For high-performance specialty polymers (PEEK, PPSU, PTFE): 500 kg–5 MT MOQ; smaller quantities (50–500 kg) available at premium per-kg cost for trial and R&D applications. Masterbatches and compounds: 500 kg–2 MT MOQ for custom, stock-available in 25 kg–1 MT bags.
    Can you supply masterbatches and custom compounds?
    Yes — through compounding and masterbatch partners. Colour masterbatches: from existing colour library (hundreds of standard RAL, Pantone, custom colours) at MOQ 100–1,000 kg, or colour-matched to buyer sample at 500+ kg MOQ with 4–6 week lead time including colour matching. Additive masterbatches: UV stabiliser, antistatic, slip, antiblock, flame retardant, antimicrobial — standard and custom formulations. Glass-fibre-reinforced compounds (PA, PBT, PP, PC with 10–50% glass): 1–5 MT MOQ, lead time 4–6 weeks.     Can I get polymers in recycled (rPET, rHDPE) or bio-based grades?
    Yes. Recycled grades: rPET (bottle-to-bottle, food-contact where FDA-approved), rHDPE, rLDPE, rPP from post-consumer or post-industrial recycling streams, with full traceability and recycled-content certification (GRS, OBP Ocean-Bound-Plastic, FDA LNO for food contact). Quality varies by feedstock; food-grade recycled is premium-priced and limited availability. Bio-based grades: bio-PE (ethylene from ethanol), bio-PP, PLA (polylactic acid — compostable), PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoate — compostable).     Lead times for polymer supply?
    Commodity virgin resins in stock grades: 3–5 weeks from order to FOB Mumbai, depending on producer inventory and scheduling. Engineering thermoplastics from stock: 4–6 weeks. High-performance specialty polymers (PEEK, PPSU, PTFE): 8–14 weeks, often from authorised distribution of international brands, with Indian-produced alternatives (where available) at shorter lead time. Custom compounds: 6–12 weeks including compounding, QC, and packaging. Sea freight adds 3–4 weeks to Europe and 2–3 weeks to GCC. For urgent needs, air-freight of engineering and specialty polymers compresses total lead time to 2–4 weeks at significantly higher per-kg cost.
