Polyamide
Polyamide (PA, nylon) is a family of semi-crystalline engineering thermoplastics, principally PA6 and PA66, valued for high mechanical strength, toughness, abrasion and fatigue resistance, and good chemical and temperature resistance. It is used for automotive under-bonnet parts, gears, bearings and bushes, electrical connectors, cable ties, power-tool housings, and engineered films and fibres.
Grades are specified by polymer type (PA6 vs PA66, with PA66 offering higher stiffness and heat resistance and PA6 slightly higher toughness and moisture uptake), viscosity number, and reinforcement, with unfilled, 15-50% glass-fibre-filled, mineral-filled, impact-modified, and flame-retardant grades offered. Buyers also specify heat-stabilised, UV-stabilised, and lubricated variants per the end-use temperature and load profile, with glass-filled grades raising heat-deflection temperature and modulus for structural parts. As a processing spec note, polyamides are hygroscopic and require pre-drying (commonly to under 0.2% moisture) before moulding to avoid hydrolytic degradation and surface defects. Food-contact-suitable grades carry EU 10/2011 declarations where required.
Forms are virgin granules, typically supplied moisture-barrier packed. Packaging is typically 25 kg moisture-barrier bags palletised, 500-1000 kg FIBC/jumbo bags, or octabins, with FCL consignments standard for EU and GCC importers.
For EU buyers, REACH registration is confirmed and an Only Representative pathway coordinated where required; CLP labelling and SDS accompany shipments, and SABER/SASO is arranged for Saudi Arabia. Himalay's verified manufacturer/exporter partners supply polyamide with CoA per batch (viscosity number, glass content, where applicable moisture), SDS, REACH/CLP compliance coordinated for EU, GHS labelling, and SABER for Saudi Arabia handled as part of the standard order flow.
