PET Resin
PET (polyethylene terephthalate) resin is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic polyester supplied as solid pellets or chips, primarily for bottle and preform manufacture, sheet and thermoforming, and polyester strapping. It is the workhorse resin for beverage, water, edible-oil, and personal-care packaging because it combines clarity, gas-barrier behaviour, and mechanical strength with full recyclability.
Grades are usually framed by intrinsic viscosity (IV): bottle-grade resin typically falls around 0.76-0.84 dL/g for carbonated and water bottles, while sheet, strapping, and fibre grades sit in different IV bands. Buyers specify IV, colour (b-value/L-value), acetaldehyde content for water and CSD applications, and whether a hot-fill or fast-reheat (IR-absorber) grade is required. Food-contact grades are documented against EU 10/2011 and FDA framing; recycled (rPET) content can be specified where the buyer requires it.
Packaging is generally 25 kg bags, jumbo/FIBC bags of around 1,000-1,250 kg, or bulk liners in containers. The resin is hygroscopic and ships moisture-protected; storage and drying parameters are provided as specification notes on the technical data sheet rather than handling instructions.
For EU import, REACH polymer-exemption framing, food-contact declarations of compliance, and SDS are coordinated where required; SABER/SASO routing is arranged for Saudi Arabia. HS code is provided on documentation.
Himalay's verified manufacturer and exporter partners supply PET resin with CoA per batch (including IV and acetaldehyde where relevant), SDS, food-contact declarations, REACH framing coordinated for EU, GHS labelling, and SABER for Saudi Arabia handled as part of the standard order flow.
