Extension Boards, Sockets, Plugs & Adapters
Frequently Asked Questions
- Which connector standard should I specify for my destination market?
- It depends on where the goods land. For continental EU markets, CEE 7 / Schuko (Type F) socket-outlets and plugs to IEC 60884 are the usual fit; for the UK and much of the GCC, the BS 1363 13 A system with fused plugs applies. Industrial and outdoor use generally calls for IEC 60309 pin-and-sleeve connectors. Share the target country and load profile at inquiry and partners build to the correct national sheet.
- What are typical MOQs for wiring accessories?
- These are largely volume commodity items, so MOQs tend to be higher than engineered products. As a rough guide, moulded plugs and standard socket-outlets often start around 1,000-5,000 pieces per SKU, while assembled extension boards and industrial connectors can run lower, often 200-1,000 units. Mixed-SKU orders consolidated into one shipment can ease per-line minimums; confirm against your spec.
- What certifications and compliance documents are available?
- Partner manufacturers can supply products tested to IEC 60884-1 (or the relevant national sheet such as BS 1363) and IEC 60309 for industrial connectors, with CE under the LVD and EMC directives and RoHS/REACH declarations where specified. SABER for Saudi Arabia is coordinated in the order flow. Independent test-house reports and conformity certificates are provided on request; specific national marks depend on the destination.
- Can outlets be supplied with a particular IP rating?
- Yes. Indoor accessories are typically IP20, while outdoor, washdown and industrial variants are available at IP44, IP54, IP66 or IP67 depending on the family. Specify the exposure (dust, water jets, temporary immersion) and partners select enclosures, gaskets and sealed connectors accordingly. Voltage, current rating and pole configuration are matched to your circuit at the same time.
- Do partners support OEM and private-label production?
- A subset of Himalay's partner network supplies appliance and electrical-distribution OEMs and retail brands. Share your spec, drawing or sample at inquiry and we match a qualified manufacturer; OEM colourways, branding, custom cord lengths and private-label packaging are arranged where supported. Tooling lead time for bespoke moulded parts is confirmed case by case.
- What lead times should I plan for?
- Catalogue accessories from stock or short runs are often ready in 3-5 weeks; tooled or custom-configured items run longer. Full CIF to Rotterdam, Antwerp, Jebel Ali or Dammam is typically 6-12 weeks door-to-door for standard goods, with custom-tooled or certified-variant orders extending beyond that. Timelines are confirmed at order against the final spec.
