- How do I match equipment to my temperature and duty needs?
- Start with the temperature band and load: 0 to +8 C for chilled storage and display, -18 C and below for frozen goods, -40 to -86 C for ultra-low and many medical samples, and a controlled coolant temperature for process chillers. Then size by storage volume or cooling capacity (kW) and the ambient design temperature, which is critical in hot GCC climates. Share the application and we match the right family.
- What MOQ applies to refrigeration equipment?
- For larger engineered units, walk-in cold rooms, packaged chillers and medical cabinets, orders can be small, often as few as 1-10 units, sometimes single-unit for bespoke systems. Smaller self-contained cabinets and display units behave more like volume goods, with minimums often in the tens to low hundreds. Mixed orders consolidated into one shipment help; figures are confirmed against your spec.
- Which certifications and refrigerant documents are available?
- Partners can supply equipment with CE under the LVD and EMC directives (and the Machinery or Pressure Equipment directives where applicable), RoHS/REACH declarations, IEC 60335 safety compliance, and refrigerant documentation aligned with F-gas Regulation (EU) 517/2014 where specified. SABER is coordinated for Saudi Arabia. EU energy-label data and test reports are provided on request.
- Which refrigerant should I specify for the EU market?
- EU rules favour low-GWP refrigerants under the F-gas phase-down. Self-contained cabinets and freezers commonly use R290 (propane, GWP ~3), while larger or remote systems use blends such as R449A or R513A; legacy R134a is being designed out. R290 units must respect the charge limits in IEC 60335-2-89. Tell us the destination and system type and partners specify a compliant refrigerant.
- Do partners supply OEM and custom refrigeration systems?
- A subset of Himalay's partner network supplies food-service, retail-fixture and laboratory-equipment OEMs. Share your spec, layout or drawing at inquiry and we match a qualified manufacturer; custom dimensions, branding, voltage/frequency for the destination grid, and private-label builds are arranged where supported. Site-specific cold-room and chiller designs are quoted to your requirement.
- What lead times should I plan for?
- Catalogue cabinets and display units often run 4-8 weeks in manufacture; engineered chillers, ultra-low units and cold-room systems take longer. Full CIF to Rotterdam, Antwerp, Jebel Ali or Dammam is typically 8-12 weeks door-to-door for standard equipment, with large engineered systems extending beyond that. Timelines are confirmed at order against the final spec.
