Industrial Chillers
Industrial chillers are heavy-duty packaged or modular refrigeration systems that remove large process heat loads and deliver chilled water or glycol to manufacturing equipment and facilities. Buyers in the EU and GCC source them for plastics extrusion and moulding, chemical and pharmaceutical reactors, metal finishing, data-centre and large HVAC duties, and food and beverage process cooling. They differ from smaller water chillers in scale and configuration: capacities run from tens to many hundreds of kW (or tons of refrigeration), often with multiple compressors, modular banks for redundancy, and dedicated pump skids and buffer tanks. The condenser-type split still applies, air-cooled for simpler installation and water-cooled (with cooling tower) for higher efficiency on large hot-climate loads. Key parameters are cooling capacity, leaving-water temperature, flow rate and pressure, temperature stability, part-load efficiency (IPLV/ESEER) and full-load COP/EER, all of which drive operating cost on continuous duty. EU imports follow the F-gas Regulation (EU) 517/2014, so refrigerants trend to lower-GWP options such as R513A, R454B, R1234ze or R290 depending on capacity and safety classification. Construction uses screw or scroll compressors, shell-and-tube or brazed-plate evaporators, robust controls with sequencing and remote monitoring, and may fall under the Machinery and Pressure Equipment directives. Options include free-cooling, heat recovery, high-ambient ratings, and N+1 redundancy.
