Water Chillers
Water chillers are packaged refrigeration systems that cool a circulating water or water-glycol stream and deliver it to a process, comfort-cooling load or equipment that needs a stable coolant temperature. Buyers in the EU and GCC source them for plastics and injection moulding, laser and machine-tool cooling, food and beverage processing, medical imaging, and building HVAC. The primary selection split is condenser type: air-cooled chillers reject heat to ambient air with fans, simple to install but sensitive to high GCC ambient temperatures, while water-cooled chillers reject heat through a cooling tower or process water, offering higher efficiency for larger or hot-climate duties. Key parameters are cooling capacity (kW or tons of refrigeration), leaving-water temperature set-point, flow rate, temperature stability, and efficiency expressed as COP/EER, the last directly affecting running cost. EU imports follow the F-gas Regulation (EU) 517/2014, so refrigerant trends to lower-GWP options such as R513A, R454B or R290 depending on capacity and design. Construction uses scroll or screw compressors, brazed-plate or shell-and-tube heat exchangers, an integrated pump and insulated tank, and a microprocessor controller; the package may carry CE under the LVD/EMC and, where applicable, the Machinery and Pressure Equipment directives. Options include free-cooling coils for cold climates, redundant compressors, hot-climate high-ambient ratings, and stainless wetted parts for hygienic duty.
