Display Refrigeration
Display refrigeration covers merchandising cabinets and counters that keep chilled or frozen product at the correct temperature while presenting it for retail sale. Buyers in the EU and GCC source open multideck cabinets, glass-door upright merchandisers, serve-over and deli counters, refrigerated and freezer islands, and back-bar and beverage coolers for supermarkets, convenience stores, bakeries, food service and pharmacies. Selection is driven by the temperature class needed for the product (chilled 0 to +8 C, or frozen -18 C and below), display format (open versus closed-door), shelf area and capacity, and the ambient/climate class, which is decisive for hot, humid GCC retail floors where open cabinets struggle without the right rating. Energy performance is a major commercial factor: closed-door merchandisers and night-blinds cut running cost, and the EU energy label now applies to many commercial display cabinets. EU imports follow the F-gas Regulation (EU) 517/2014, so refrigerants trend to low-GWP options, R290 in self-contained units and CO2 (R744) or low-GWP blends in remote/centralised retail systems. Construction uses coated or stainless steel frames, toughened or low-E glass, LED lighting, forced-air curtains on open cabinets, and digital controllers with defrost management; flammable-refrigerant charge follows IEC 60335-2-89. Options include night-blinds, plug-in or remote configurations, custom branding and lighting, and adjustable shelving.
