Nails and Pins
Nails and Pins products and componentsFrequently Asked Questions
- Do I need a dowel pin, spring pin or split pin for my joint?
- It depends on function. Ground solid dowel pins (ISO 2338, m6/h8) suit precise alignment of plates and housings. Spring straight pins (ISO 8752) suit press-fit retention that tolerates hole variation. Split cotter pins (ISO 1234) suit removable locking of castle nuts and clevises. Share the load, fit and whether it must be removable for a recommendation.
- What is the typical minimum order for nails and pins?
- Commodity wire and collated nails are usually quoted by weight or in carton/pallet quantities, so MOQs are volume-based. Engineering pins to ISO or DIN often start in the few-thousand-piece range per size and grade, varying by manufacturer. Consolidating sizes into one package generally helps. Treat any quantity as indicative until quoted.
- Which certifications and test documents are available?
- Where specified, partners can supply material certificates such as EN 10204 3.1, dimensional reports, hardness data and RoHS declarations for plated and stainless items. Compliance to IS 723 for wire nails or the relevant ISO pin standard can be documented. Certificate availability is confirmed per order rather than assumed across all partners.
- What grade, finish and tolerance should I specify?
- For nails, state wire grade, length, point and head style and the finish (bright, electro-galvanised, hot-dip or phosphate). For pins, state the standard, tolerance class (m6 or h8 for dowels), material (steel or stainless 304/316) and any hardening. Share your drawing or sample so diameter, length and finish can be matched to your application.
- Can collated nails or special pins be made to an OEM spec?
- Yes, a subset of partners produce collated coil and strip nails to specific tool fitments and special or non-standard pins to drawing. Some partners supply into tool-brand or equipment OEM programmes, but specific approvals should not be assumed as blanket facts; share your drawing, tool model or spec at inquiry and a suitable partner can be matched.
- What lead times and delivery terms apply to Europe and the GCC?
- Commodity nails are relatively quick, while special pins or non-standard collated nails take longer; treat any figure as indicative until quoted. Full CIF delivery to Rotterdam, Antwerp, Jebel Ali or Dammam can be arranged, with sea freight added to the manufacturing window.
