Plant Based Dyes
Plant based dyes are natural colorants derived from plant sources such as indigo (leaves), madder (roots), catechu, pomegranate rind, turmeric, marigold and other botanicals, used to colour textiles, leather, food-adjacent and craft applications. Typical end uses include natural and organic textile lines, heritage and handloom dyeing, cosmetics and personal care, and eco-positioned consumer products. Buyers choose them for natural-origin claims, biodegradability and growing demand for sustainable colour.
Products are specified by botanical source, colorant content or dye-strength index, moisture, ash and particle size, with many natural dyes requiring a mordant to fix colour. Where a Colour Index Natural name applies (for example CI Natural Blue 1 for indigo), it is referenced. Because natural inputs vary by harvest, shade consistency and strength are confirmed batch to batch against an approved standard. The buyer's spec and shade standard govern selection; HS code is provided on documentation.
Packaging is offered as 25 kg bags, fibre drums and lined drums, with vacuum or moisture-barrier packing for sensitive extracts; samples support shade approval.
Compliance support typically covers REACH registration or Only Representative coverage for EU where applicable, CLP/GHS classification and SDS, and natural-origin or organic-certification documentation on request. SABER/SASO is coordinated for Saudi Arabia where required.
Himalay's verified manufacturer and exporter partners supply plant based dyes with CoA per batch, SDS, REACH/CLP compliance coordinated for EU, GHS labelling, and SABER for Saudi Arabia handled as part of the standard order flow.
