- When is a customized assembly worth it over a catalogue gearbox?
- A custom assembly earns its place when the application imposes external loads β high overhung load on a pump shaft, large moment and axial load on a slew ring, or combined bending and thrust on a long agitator shaft β that a standard gearmotor's bearings and shafting are not arranged to carry. It also helps when the interface (slew-ring pinion, pump flange, stirrer coupling) or the duty (reversing winch, intermittent solar-tracker slew) needs a service factor and bearing system matched to shock and run profile rather than a fixed catalogue rating. Where loads are modest and interfaces standard, a catalogue unit is cheaper and faster; once the external loads or duty dominate, engineering the assembly to AGMA 6001 / ISO 6336 is the sounder route.
- What MOQ applies to customized gear assemblies?
- These are engineered to a duty, so MOQ is low β many pump, winch, slew and agitator drives are quotable as single units or in small batches of 2-5 per configuration. Series quantities for solar-tracker or OEM programmes are scoped against the production run. Prototype plus small-batch validation orders are generally accepted.
- Which certifications and test documents are available?
- Where specified, partners provide CE under the Machinery Directive, ATEX/IECEx for hazardous-area duty, ISO 9001 quality systems, and gear load, efficiency and run-test reports referencing AGMA 6001/2101 or ISO 6336. For agitator and slew duty, bearing-load and thrust calculations and material traceability can be arranged.
- What ratios, inputs and mounting can be configured?
- Ratios typically span 3:1 to 90:1, higher in compound planetary, with motor or hydraulic input and helical, bevel-helical or planetary trains. Agitator drives add an integral thrust bearing for the stirrer shaft; slew and tracker drives offer an output pinion to a slew ring with IP66 sealing; pump heads use flange or torque-tube mounting. Lubrication is mineral or synthetic PAO ISO VG 220/320, and service factor is set to the application's shock, reversing and run profile.

- What is the lead time for an engineered assembly?
- First-article engineered assemblies typically take 10-16 weeks including design, manufacture and test; repeat builds run shorter. Full CIF to Rotterdam, Antwerp, Jebel Ali or Dammam is generally 14-20 weeks door-to-door for first articles and 8-12 weeks for established repeat configurations.
