Telecom Shelters & Infrastructure
Telecom shelters and infrastructure are the prefabricated outdoor enclosures and cabinets that house and protect base-station electronics, batteries, power and transmission equipment at cell sites. Sourcing is driven by environmental protection, thermal management and structural durability, since the contained electronics must run reliably across wide temperature and weather extremes.
The family includes walk-in prefabricated shelters, outdoor equipment cabinets, FRP/GRP panel shelters and battery/genset enclosures. Key commercial parameters are footprint and equipment-rack capacity, ingress protection (commonly IP55 to IP65 per IEC/EN 60529, with NEMA equivalents), wall construction and thermal insulation, cooling capacity (air-conditioning or heat-exchanger, sized in watts to the internal heat load) and fire/structural ratings. Construction materials are typically galvanised steel, aluminium or FRP/GRP composite panels; FRP offers light weight and strong corrosion resistance, while steel offers strength and economy.
Construction centres on insulated double-wall panels, sealed cable entries, managed cooling and condensation control, and provision for power distribution, earthing and fire detection. Outdoor enclosures are commonly designed to recognised telecom environmental and durability standards (such as the ETSI EN 300 019 environmental series and telecom-grade durability practice), with IP ratings verified per IEC/EN 60529.
Configuration options usually include shelter size and rack layout, FRP or steel/aluminium construction, air-conditioning or free-cooling, battery/genset compartments, cable-entry arrangements and access/security fitments.
