About Sheet Metal Fabrications
Sheet metal fabrications are formed and joined assemblies produced from flat stock by cutting, bending, punching and welding, used for enclosures, frames, brackets, chassis, ducting and structural weldments across industrial and electrical equipment. Typical processes combine laser or punch cutting, CNC press-brake bending, stamping, rolling and MIG/TIG/spot welding, with general dimensional tolerances usually specified to ISO 2768 (medium or coarse classes) for machined and formed features and to ISO 13920 (classes B/C linear, E/F geometric) for the overall accuracy of welded constructions. Automotive-supply work is commonly run under an IATF 16949 quality system. Materials generally span cold-rolled and hot-rolled mild steel, galvanised and electro-galvanised steel, stainless 304/316, and aluminium 5052/6061, in gauges typically from around 0.5 to 6 mm and heavier for structural work. Bend radii, relief cuts, hardware insertion and weld-joint preparation are set at the design stage to keep parts manufacturable and repeatable across runs. Finishes include powder coating, wet paint, hot-dip or zinc galvanising, anodising, passivation, and chromate or zinc plating, selected for corrosion and appearance. Verification usually covers first-article inspection, weld and flatness checks, and dimensional reports against the drawing. Through Himalay, partner manufacturers can supply EN 10204 3.1 mill certificates for traceability where specified, first-article and dimensional inspection reports, weld and coating records, RoHS and REACH declarations, and CE marking under relevant directives plus SABER conformity routes for EU and GCC import; certification, inspection and CIF logistics are coordinated as part of the standard order flow.
