About Security & Anti-Tamper Bolts
Security and anti-tamper bolts resist unauthorised removal by using drive systems and head designs that ordinary tools cannot turn, protecting public infrastructure, enclosures, transit, electronics and equipment from theft or interference. They balance secure fixing with the ability for authorised maintenance using a matching bit or key. The category covers one-way (clutch) head bolts that drive in but resist removal, pin-hex and pin-Torx (security Torx) bolts with a central pin blocking standard bits, shear-nut and break-away designs whose head snaps off at a set torque, and proprietary recesses such as Penta, spanner (snake-eye) and tri-wing. Head forms include button, dome and countersunk to limit purchase. Thread forms follow ISO metric coarse or UNC, and strength typically follows ISO 898-1 class 8.8 or stainless equivalents, since security rather than peak load is the main driver. Materials are commonly stainless A2/A4 for outdoor and public-realm durability and zinc-plated carbon steel for enclosures. Coatings emphasise weathering and appearance: passivated stainless, zinc, black oxide and powder colours. The defining specification is the drive system and whether removal is intended to be possible at all, and the right choice depends on whether authorised maintenance ever needs to undo the joint or whether it should remain permanently fixed once installed. Himalay coordinates material traceability with EN 10204 3.1 certificates where requested, dimensional and recess-gauge inspection, salt-spray data for plated lots and supply of matching driver bits or keys; consistent recess quality, RoHS declarations and SABER routing for GCC entry are coordinated as part of the standard order flow.
