    A pressure reducing valve holds downstream pressure at a fixed set point regardless of variation in upstream pressure or flow demand — throttling itself further open or closed as conditions change, with no external control signal required. It is the standard means of stepping high-pressure supply down to a safe or usable working pressure on steam, water and gas distribution systems. Himalay lists pressure reducing valves in three service types: steam PRV, water PRV and air/gas PRV. The catalogue spans 780 configurations from DN15 to DN300, in ASME 150 and 300 plus PN10, PN16 and PN25. Operation is pilot-operated (diaphragm), which uses a pilot sensing line to modulate the main valve, or direct-acting (spring), which balances downstream pressure against a spring without a separate pilot. Bodies are carbon steel (A216 WCB) and SS316 on steam and air/gas service, and ductile iron, cast iron or bronze/gunmetal on water service — carbon steel and SS316 are not listed on the water PRV type. Trim across the listed range is SS316 seat and stem; diaphragm material is EPDM. End connections are flanged or threaded. Process valves follow ASME B16.34 and EN 334; potable-water building valves follow EN 1567 and IS 14846. A pressure reducing valve is specified by inlet and outlet pressure and flow, not by line size alone — state both conditions, and the turndown range you need, in your enquiry.
