Petroleum Jelly
Petroleum jelly (petrolatum) is a semi-solid mixture of refined hydrocarbons used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, personal care, and industrial applications such as lubrication, rust protection and cable filling. It is supplied in white and yellow (amber) forms across cosmetic, pharmaceutical and technical grades. For EU and GCC buyers, petroleum jelly is bought as a refined, grade-defined product against colour, drop point and pharmacopoeia conformity.
Grades are defined by refinement and purity. Pharmaceutical/USP-EP white petrolatum is highly refined with tight limits on colour, consistency, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and readily carbonisable substances; cosmetic grade meets personal-care purity expectations; technical grade serves industrial use at lower refinement. Key parameters include colour (Saybolt/Lovibond), drop/melting point, consistency (penetration), congealing point and acidity. Pharmacopoeia grades carry USP and EP conformity. HS codes are provided on documentation; precise CAS framing is given on the SDS.
Petroleum jelly ships in steel or plastic drums, pails, 25/50 kg cartons and bulk where applicable; cosmetic and pharma grades often ship in lined or food-grade containers. It is generally not classed as dangerous goods.
Compliance typically includes SDS provision, CLP/GHS labelling where applicable, REACH registration or Only Representative routing for EU entry, SABER/SASO registration for Saudi Arabia, and USP/EP and cosmetic-regulation documentation for relevant grades, coordinated where required.
Himalay's verified manufacturer and exporter partners supply petroleum jelly with CoA per batch, SDS, REACH/CLP compliance coordinated for EU, GHS labelling, and SABER for Saudi Arabia handled as part of the standard order flow.
