Nitrogen Fixing Biofertilizers
Nitrogen-fixing biofertilizers are microbial inoculants containing live bacteria that convert atmospheric nitrogen into plant-available forms, reducing reliance on synthetic nitrogen. They are sourced by EU and GCC buyers serving organic, regenerative, and input-reduction programmes, and by distributors building biological product ranges.
The principal Indian-origin products are Rhizobium for legumes, Azotobacter and Azospirillum for non-legume cereals and grasses, and Acetobacter for sugarcane, supplied as carrier-based (lignite or peat) powders and granules or as liquid formulations. Under the Fertiliser (Control) Order biofertilizer schedule, viable counts are typically specified at not less than 5x10^7 CFU per gram for carrier-based material and 1x10^8 CFU per millilitre for liquid grades, with defined pH (around 6.5-7.5), moisture limits for carrier products, and contamination tolerances. Strain identity, CFU at manufacture, and shelf life are stated on the specification.
Packaging is generally 1 kg, 5 kg, or 25 kg bags for carrier-based grades and 250 ml to 1 L bottles for liquids, with shelf life and storage-temperature notes provided as specification information.
For the EU, microbial inoculants may fall under the plant-biostimulant function category of Regulation (EU) 2019/1009 or under national rules, with documentation coordinated where required, plus SDS, GHS labelling, and SABER for Saudi consignments. Himalay's verified manufacturer and exporter partners supply nitrogen-fixing biofertilizers with CoA per batch, SDS, EU fertilising-product and CLP compliance coordinated for Europe, GHS labelling, and SABER for Saudi Arabia handled as part of the standard order flow.
