About HVAC Sheet Components
HVAC sheet components are ductwork, plenums, fittings and air-handling parts fabricated from sheet metal for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, including rectangular and round ducts, elbows, transitions, dampers, diffuser frames, AHU panels and casing. They are formed by cutting, roll-forming, seaming, spiral-tube forming and press-brake bending, with joints made by Pittsburgh and snap-lock seams, flanged TDC/TDF connections and spot or seam welding. Construction generally follows recognised ductwork practice such as SMACNA gauge-and-reinforcement tables and EN 1505/EN 1506 dimensional standards for rectangular and circular ducts, with general fabrication tolerances to ISO 2768 where machined features apply. Materials commonly span galvanised steel (the HVAC default), stainless 304/316 for hygienic or corrosive air, aluminium, and pre-insulated or coated panels, in gauges selected by duct size and pressure class. Reinforcement spacing, seam type and flange system are chosen to meet the deflection and air-tightness limits set by the duct pressure class. Finishes include the mill galvanised coat, powder coat or paint for exposed work, and insulation lining where specified. Verification usually covers dimensional and seam-integrity checks and, for higher pressure classes, duct leakage testing to recognised air-tightness classes.
