  • Helical Gearmotor

A helical gearmotor is an integrated drive in which a helical gear reducer is built directly onto an electric motor as a single unit, rather than coupling a separate motor to a gearbox. The motor shaft drives the helical gear train directly through a close-coupled adapter, giving a compact, rigid, pre-aligned package with high efficiency and the smooth, quiet meshing of angled teeth. Helical gearmotors are the standard drive for conveyors, pumps, fans, mixers and general machinery where a ready-to-mount motorised reducer simplifies the build.

The reducer is typically a single-, two- or three-stage helical train, with single stages near 1.25:1 to 8:1 building to roughly 200:1 and higher. Per-stage gear efficiency is generally high, commonly cited near 96-98 percent, so the gearing keeps multi-stage units well above 90 percent before motor losses. The integral motor is built to IEC 60034, commonly in IE2/IE3/IE4 efficiency classes, in 2-, 4- or 6-pole windings, with power from fractional kW to tens of kW. Gear-rating follows AGMA 2001/2101 or ISO 6336, with enclosed-drive practice per AGMA 6010 and gear quality to ISO 1328 / AGMA 2015.

Gears are case-hardened alloy steel (20MnCr5 / 18CrNiMo7-6) with ground or lapped profiles, in cast-iron or aluminium housings, on SKF/FAG-equivalent bearings with shaft seals and ISO VG 220/320 mineral or synthetic PAO lubrication, frequently lifetime-filled. The motor carries IP55/IP65 ingress and Class F insulation as standard options.

The unit integrates the motor by direct coupling, with output as solid or hollow shaft or flange, foot/B5/B14 mounting, and options for brake motors, forced cooling, encoders and inverter duty. Service factor is selected per AGMA SF against the duty.

Himalay's MSME partners manufacture helical gearmotors with gear-rating to AGMA/ISO 6336, IEC 60034 motors, ISO 9001 quality systems, load/efficiency test reports and traceability; CE (Machinery Directive), ATEX/IECEx for hazardous areas, and SABER (Saudi Arabia) coordinated as part of the standard order flow.
