Gasoline Fuels
Gasoline fuels are volatile, spark-ignition motor fuels blended from refinery streams for use in passenger vehicles, motorcycles, small engines and generator sets. As a traded commodity, gasoline is specified against standards rather than brand, and buyers typically purchase against an agreed test slate covering volatility, octane and contaminant limits. The category includes unleaded motor gasoline at various octane grades and naphtha-range blendstocks used by downstream blenders.
Grades are commonly defined against ASTM D4814 (covering volatility classes for varied operating conditions) and equivalent EN 228 expectations in Europe. Key parameters include Research and Motor Octane Number (RON/MON or the AKI average), Reid vapour pressure, distillation curve, sulfur and benzene content, oxygenate content and gum. Octane grades such as 91, 95 and 98 RON are common reference points. Low-sulfur and low-benzene grades are specified for tighter EU emissions regimes. Gasoline is a bulk product, moving primarily in vessel parcels, ISO tanks and flexitanks; smaller volumes can be drummed for specialised use. It is a flammable dangerous good shipped under its assigned UN number per ADR/IMDG.
Compliance typically includes SDS provision, CLP/GHS labelling, REACH registration or Only Representative routing for EU entry, and SABER/SASO registration for Saudi Arabia, coordinated where required. Vapour-pressure seasonal grades and oxygenate limits are matched to the destination market.
