Fire hydrant valves β€” commonly called landing valves on wet and dry riser systems β€” are the outlet valves that let firefighters connect a hose and draw water at pressure from a building's or site's fire main. They are a life-safety component, so design, materials and testing follow dedicated fire-protection standards and, where a project or insurer requires it, third-party Listing or Approval, rather than general process-valve codes.

The core product is the globe-pattern landing valve built to BS 5041 Part 1 (landing valves for wet risers), available in oblique, right-angle, bib-nose and horizontal patterns with a 2Β½" (65 mm) instantaneous female outlet and a flanged or threaded inlet. Related items include underground and pillar fire hydrants to BS 750, and gate, butterfly and check valves for the fire main itself. Pressure classes cover low-pressure landing valves (to around 15 bar inlet) and high-pressure variants for tall risers.

Materials are typically gunmetal or bronze for the valve and seat, with some bodies in ductile iron, chosen for corrosion resistance and durability in standby service. Outlets carry instantaneous couplings to the local standard, often with a blank cap and chain. Each valve is hydrostatically tested well above working pressure β€” commonly to around 16.5 bar on the seat and higher on the body β€” to confirm tightness and strength.

UL Listing and FM Approval are available on specific ranges where the specification demands them, but are partner- and product-dependent. Himalay's MSME partners manufacture fire hydrant and landing valves with hydrostatic and seat testing, material traceability, and BS 5041 / BS 750 conformity and UL/FM where specified and partner-dependent coordinated as part of the standard order flow, with PED-CE (EU) and SABER (Saudi Arabia) arranged where relevant.
