About Construction Bolts
Construction bolts are the high-strength structural fasteners that join steel members in buildings, bridges, towers and heavy fabrications, carrying load through friction (slip-critical) or bearing connections. They are specified where the joint must develop reliable preload and resist shear, tension and fatigue under code-controlled conditions. The category centres on structural bolting assemblies that pair a heavy-hex bolt with a matched nut and washer. North American practice follows ASTM F3125 (consolidating the former A325 and A490) in grades A325/A490, while European practice uses EN 14399 with property classes 8.8 and 10.9 and HV/HR assemblies. Tension-control (TC) bolts and direct-tension-indicator (DTI) washers support controlled, verifiable preload on site. Thread forms follow ISO metric coarse or UNC; assemblies are supplied as matched lots so that bolt, nut and washer behave as a tested set. Materials are medium-carbon and alloy steels heat-treated to the relevant class, with weathering grades available for exposed bridges. Coatings include plain (oiled), hot-dip galvanizing to ASTM F2329 for A325-equivalent assemblies and zinc-flake systems where thin uniform protection and controlled friction matter; A490 and class 10.9 are handled carefully to manage hydrogen-embrittlement risk. Himalay coordinates material traceability with EN 10204 3.1 certificates, rotational-capacity and proof-load testing for matched assemblies, hardness and coating-thickness reports, and CE-marked structural-bolting documentation under EN 14399 where the EU project requires it; SABER routing for GCC projects and full inspection test packs are coordinated as part of the standard order flow.
