About Automotive Turned Parts
Automotive turned parts are precision rotational components machined for vehicle systems, produced on CNC and Swiss-type lathes from steel, stainless, brass, and aluminium bar stock. They appear throughout powertrain, fuel, braking, steering, and electrical systems as shafts, pins, nozzles, connectors, fittings, valve components, and sensor bodies, where dimensional consistency and repeatability across high volumes are critical to safe assembly and function.
Production is typically governed by IATF 16949 quality management, with dimensional tolerances held to ISO 2768 medium or fine for general features and tighter IT grades on functional diameters, bores, and threads; geometric tolerancing follows ISO 1101 and form/position callouts on the part drawing. Surface finish is specified by Ra, and thread classes follow ISO metric or unified standards per the application. Capability studies (Cp/Cpk) and PPAP documentation are commonly part of automotive launches.
Materials include free-cutting and case-hardening steels, stainless 303/304/316, brass CW614N/CZ121, and 6000-series aluminium. Treatments include zinc and zinc-nickel plating, phosphating, nitriding, case-hardening, passivation, and electroless nickel, selected for corrosion, wear, or fatigue requirements.
Configuration covers multi-axis turning with live tooling, secondary milling, grinding, and assembly. In-process SPC, gauging, and 100 percent vision inspection are available for safety-critical features.
Himalay coordinates material traceability through EN 10204 3.1 certificates where requested, PPAP and first-article documentation, RoHS/REACH compliance declarations, and IMDS data submission support, coordinated as part of the standard order flow so parts integrate cleanly into a tier-supplier chain.
