Aromatics
Aromatics are ring-structured hydrocarbons valued as solvents and as primary feedstocks for plastics, fibres, resins and intermediates. The category centres on the BTX group (benzene, toluene, xylenes) along with ethylbenzene, cumene and mixed aromatic solvent cuts. For EU and GCC buyers, aromatics are traded as purity-defined feedstock and solvent grades against a recognised impurity slate.
Grades are defined chiefly by purity and by limits on non-aromatic and sulfur impurities. Petrochemical-grade benzene, toluene and xylene are typically supplied at high assay (commonly 99.5% and above for nitration- or polymerisation-grade material) with controls on moisture, sulfur, colour and acid wash. Mixed-xylene and aromatic solvent grades (for example Solvent Naphtha / aromatic 100/150 cuts) are specified by aromatic content, distillation range and flash point. Aromatics ship in ISO tanks, flexitanks, drums (200-210 L) and IBCs depending on volume. Most are flammable and many carry health-hazard classifications, shipped under assigned UN numbers per ADR/IMDG.
Compliance typically includes SDS provision, CLP/GHS labelling, REACH registration or Only Representative routing for EU entry, and SABER/SASO registration for Saudi Arabia, coordinated where required. Benzene as a regulated substance carries additional handling-documentation requirements that are flagged where relevant.
