Wiring Harnesses
Automotive wiring harnesses are pre-assembled bundles of wires, terminals, connectors and protective sheathing that route power and signals between a vehicle's battery, control units, sensors and actuators. They are a core build-to-print product: harness makers work from an OEM or Tier-1 drawing and bill of materials, so quality discipline and traceability typically matter more than catalogue specs. Buyers across the EU and GCC source harnesses for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, off-highway equipment and increasingly EV high-voltage architectures.
Harnesses are generally specified by circuit count, wire gauge (often metric cross-sections such as 0.35-6.0 mm2, larger for power feeds), system voltage (12 V, 24 V, or 400/800 V HV for EVs) and the connector families used. Manufacturers commonly align to IATF 16949 quality management, with crimp processes verified to SAE/USCAR-21 and connector systems to SAE/USCAR-2; UN/ECE R10 (EMC) and ISO 16750 environmental loads are typical reference points where the harness affects vehicle-level compliance.
Construction varies by environment: PVC or cross-linked (XLPE) insulation, braided or convoluted-tube protection, taping classes, grommets and IP-rated sealed connectors for engine-bay and underbody routing. HV EV harnesses add orange shielded cable, HVIL interlock circuits and shielded connectors.
Options include tape-and-clip layouts, fuse/relay boxes, splice and ultrasonic-weld joints, twisted pairs for data buses (CAN/LIN/Ethernet), and full electrical end-of-line testing.
