Temperature Sensors
Automotive temperature sensors measure coolant, oil, intake-air, exhaust-gas, ambient, battery and cabin temperatures and feed the engine, transmission and climate control units. By converting temperature into a resistance or voltage signal, they enable closed-loop fuel, emissions and thermal management. They serve OEM assembly, tier-1 module builders and the aftermarket across cars, commercial vehicles, buses, two-wheelers and off-highway machines. India's sensor-manufacturing base gives EU and GCC buyers a cost-competitive source across NTC, PTC and thermocouple types.
Variants include NTC and PTC thermistor coolant/oil/air sensors, platinum RTD and thermocouple exhaust-gas temperature (EGT) sensors for emissions systems, and infrared or thermistor cabin sensors. Key parameters are temperature range, resistance/output characteristic and tolerance, response time, thread or housing form, voltage (12 V or 24 V system) and connector/pinout. Quality management is commonly aligned to IATF 16949, electromagnetic compatibility to UN/ECE R10 and environmental robustness to ISO 16750 (thermal cycling, vibration, fluid and chemical exposure); sensor electronics may carry AEC-Q qualification. EGT sensors additionally face very high temperature endurance.
Construction uses a thermistor or RTD element in a stainless-steel or brass housing, glass or epoxy encapsulation, sealed cable or connector exits and gaskets/O-rings rated to the medium and pressure. Element placement and housing mass are tuned for accuracy and response.
