Starter motors are high-torque DC motors that crank the internal combustion engine to starting speed by engaging a pinion with the flywheel ring gear. A solenoid throws the pinion into mesh and closes the main contacts, delivering several hundred amps from the battery to the motor for a short, high-load duty cycle. They serve OEM, remanufacturing and aftermarket buyers across cars, commercial vehicles, buses, tractors, marine and gensets. India's strong rotating-electrics manufacturing base makes it a competitive source for new and reman starters into EU and GCC markets.

Variants are defined by system voltage (12 V for cars, 24 V for commercial and heavy duty), power output (typically around 0.8-2.5 kW for cars and up to roughly 5-9 kW for large diesels), drive type (direct-drive or planetary/reduction-gear for higher torque from a smaller frame), pinion tooth count and rotation, and mounting flange and clocking. Cranking current commonly runs from about 150 A to 600 A depending on engine size. Electromagnetic compatibility is generally addressed under UN/ECE R10, quality under IATF 16949 and environmental robustness under ISO 16750.

Construction uses a steel yoke with field windings or permanent magnets, a commutator armature, copper or graphite brushes, an overrunning clutch drive, sealed bushings or bearings and a solenoid with copper contacts. Reduction-gear designs deliver high torque with lower current draw and reduced mass. Sealing and contact materials are matched to under-bonnet heat, vibration and ingress.

Himalay's verified manufacturer partners supply starter motors with test reports and certificates of conformity, CE marking under the relevant directives (EMC where applicable), RoHS/REACH declarations, and SABER (Saudi Arabia) coordinated as part of the standard order flow; UN/ECE R10 EMC references, IATF 16949 evidence and end-of-line torque/current testing are arranged where specified.
