Pressure Sensors
Automotive pressure sensors convert fluid or gas pressure into an electrical signal for engine, transmission, braking, fuel, climate and emissions control. They cover manifold absolute pressure (MAP), oil and fuel-rail pressure, brake and transmission pressure, tyre pressure (TPMS), exhaust differential pressure for particulate filters, and refrigerant pressure. They serve OEM assembly, tier-1 module builders and the aftermarket across cars, commercial vehicles, buses, two-wheelers and off-highway machines. India's sensor base gives EU and GCC buyers a cost-competitive source across piezoresistive and capacitive technologies.
Variants are defined by sensing principle (piezoresistive MEMS, ceramic or metal-diaphragm capacitive), measurement type (absolute, gauge or differential) and range (from a few bar for MAP to 2,000 bar and above for common-rail fuel). Key parameters are pressure range, accuracy and output type (analog ratiometric, PWM, SENT, CAN), thread/port form, media compatibility, voltage (12 V or 24 V system) and connector pinout. Quality management is commonly aligned to IATF 16949, electromagnetic compatibility to UN/ECE R10 and environmental robustness to ISO 16750; sensor ICs may carry AEC-Q qualification. High-pressure fuel and brake sensors face stringent burst, fatigue and media-resistance requirements.
Construction uses a MEMS or ceramic sensing element with signal-conditioning ASIC, stainless-steel or coated wetted parts, media-resistant seals, and a sealed housing with integrated connector. The diaphragm and port are matched to the media (fuel, oil, refrigerant, exhaust) and burst rating.
