About Mounted Bearing
Mounted bearings are ready-to-install units pairing an insert bearing with a cast or pressed housing, so a shaft can be supported and bolted down without machining a precision bearing seat into the structure. They are a staple of conveyors, fans, blowers, agricultural and food machinery, and material-handling lines, where quick installation, tolerance to shaft misalignment and easy field replacement outweigh the need for the finest precision. Units are classified mainly by housing geometry: pillow block (plummer block) housings bolt to a base parallel to the shaft; flange housings (two-bolt, three-bolt, and four-bolt round or square) bolt to a face perpendicular to the shaft; and take-up housings slide in a frame for belt or chain tensioning. The heart of the unit is a wide-inner-ring insert whose spherical outer surface self-aligns within the housing, locked to the shaft by set screws, an eccentric collar or an adapter sleeve. The insert follows ISO 15 / ISO 492 ball or roller-bearing dimensional and tolerance logic, with the dynamic rating C and static rating C0 setting load capacity. Housings are usually grey cast iron, with ductile iron, cast steel, stainless or thermoplastic for shock, corrosive or washdown duty; inserts are 52100 chrome steel, or stainless for hygiene, normally pre-greased with contact seals or flingers. Where specified, Himalay coordinates material traceability, dimensional inspection, seal and grease specification and RoHS/REACH declarations, coordinated as part of the standard order flow.
