Industrial Fans
Industrial fans are heavy-duty air-moving machines built for continuous service in process plants, power generation, cement, steel, chemicals, mining and large facility ventilation. Compared with commercial fans, they are engineered around a specific duty point — a required airflow (m3/h or CFM) against a defined static pressure (Pa) — and often handle elevated temperatures, dust-laden, abrasive or corrosive air, which drives the choice of impeller type, material and drive arrangement.
Common types include centrifugal fans with backward-curved, forward-curved, radial or radial-tipped impellers (process, combustion, ID/FD and dust duties), heavy axial fans (cooling, tunnel and general ventilation), and high-temperature or material-handling designs. Aerodynamic ratings are typically established to ISO 5801 or ANSI/AMCA 210 so airflow, fan total/static pressure, power and efficiency can be compared and guaranteed. EU-market units commonly use IE-class motors (IE3, or IE2 with an inverter, IE4 in higher power bands per Regulation (EU) 2019/1781) and meet ErP/Ecodesign where in scope; ATEX-compliant, spark-resistant construction (e.g. AMCA Type A/B/C principles) is specified for flammable or explosive atmospheres.
Construction is matched to service: mild, galvanised or stainless steel, abrasion-resistant or coated impellers, dynamically balanced rotors (commonly to ISO 21940 grades), shaft seals, IP-rated motors and bearing arrangements rated for the temperature. Drive can be direct, belt or variable-speed.
