Headlights
Headlights are the front-mounted lighting assemblies that provide the driving (high) and passing (low) beams essential for night and low-visibility driving. They serve OEM assembly, module integrators and the aftermarket across cars, commercial vehicles, buses and two-wheelers. For EU and GCC buyers, Indian headlamp manufacturing offers a cost-competitive base that increasingly builds to UN/ECE type-approval expectations for both light pattern and electrical compatibility.
Variants span halogen reflector and projector units, HID/xenon, and LED modules, with light sources governed by UN/ECE R37 (filament lamps) and R128 (LED modules) and headlamp performance by UN/ECE R112 and R149 (R149 progressively replacing earlier headlamp regulations for new approvals), which fix the asymmetrical passing-beam pattern, intensity and glare limits. Key parameters include beam pattern (left- or right-hand traffic), luminous output, colour temperature, voltage (12 V or 24 V) and connector type. Electromagnetic compatibility falls under UN/ECE R10, quality under IATF 16949, and environmental robustness under ISO 16750; LED driver electronics may use AEC-Q qualified parts. Adaptive and matrix front-lighting systems are available from a narrower supplier base.
Construction uses polycarbonate lenses with UV-stable hard coats, metallised reflectors, PBT/PA housings, silicone or hot-melt sealing and breathable vents to manage condensation, with sealed connectors rated to the relevant IP class. Thermal management of LED modules and heat-sinking are central to lifetime and lumen maintenance.
