  • Head Protection

Head protection covers industrial safety helmets and hard hats that reduce the risk and severity of head injury from falling or flying objects, impacts and, in some designs, electrical contact. It is core PPE for construction, mining, manufacturing, shipyards, utilities and oil and gas, and is one of the first lines an EU or GCC buyer specifies when fitting out a site or distribution catalogue.

The main families are general industrial helmets to EN 397, high-performance and mountaineering-style helmets to EN 12492 (with chinstrap retention suited to work-at-height), and bump caps to EN 812 for low-clearance areas. EN 397 sets mandatory tests for shock absorption, penetration resistance, chinstrap anchorage and flame resistance, with optional performance for very low or high temperatures, lateral deformation, molten-metal splash and electrical insulation (for example 440 V a.c.). Higher-voltage electrical work uses helmets tested to EN 50365 (Class 0, up to 1000 V a.c.). The recognised North American equivalent is ANSI/ISEA Z89.1, which classifies helmets by type (I/II) and electrical class (G/E/C).

Shells are commonly moulded in HDPE or ABS, with ratchet, wheel or textile harness suspensions, sweatbands, and slots for ear-muff, visor and lamp accessories. Specifiable options include 4- or 6-point harnesses, vented or non-vented shells, chin straps, hi-vis and custom colours, and printed branding. Helmets carry a manufacture date and a recommended in-service life that buyers should track.

Himalay's verified manufacturer partners supply head protection with test reports and certificates of conformity, CE marking under EU PPE Regulation 2016/425 (with notified-body type-examination where the category requires it), RoHS/REACH declarations on applicable components, and SABER (Saudi Arabia) coordinated as part of the standard order flow; batch traceability or third-party lab testing arranged where specified.
