Fall Protection Systems
Fall-protection systems cover the harnesses, lanyards, energy absorbers, anchors and connectors that arrest or restrain a fall from height. As life-safety PPE protecting against risks of death, these are Category III products and among the most rigorously certified items a buyer specifies for construction, telecom towers, wind, oil and gas and warehouse work.
A personal fall-arrest system is built from coordinated EN-rated components: EN 361 full-body harnesses, EN 354 lanyards, EN 355 energy absorbers, EN 360 retractable type fall arresters (SRLs), EN 353-1/-2 guided type fall arresters on rigid or flexible lines, EN 358 work-positioning belts, EN 795 anchor devices, and EN 362 connectors and karabiners; EN 363 defines how these combine into a complete system. The recognised North American framework is the ANSI/ASSP Z359 Fall Protection Code and OSHA 1926 Subpart M. Correct assembly, anchor strength and clearance calculation matter as much as the individual components.
Harnesses use polyester or polyamide webbing with forged-steel or aluminium D-rings, quick-connect or pass-through buckles, and dorsal, sternal and lateral attachment points; lanyards offer single or twin (100% tie-off) legs with tear-web or in-line energy absorbers. Selectable options include harness configuration, lanyard length and connector type, SRL housing and cable/webbing, and rescue or work-positioning add-ons.
