Exhaust & Ventilation Equipment
Exhaust ventilation equipment removes stale, hot, humid or contaminated air β fumes, smoke, kitchen grease-laden vapour, process dust and odours β and discharges it outside, maintaining air quality and pressure balance in industrial, commercial and institutional buildings. Selection is driven by the air being handled and the duty point: required extraction airflow (m3/h or CFM) against the system static pressure (Pa), plus temperature and contaminant type.
The family includes roof-mounted exhaust fans (upblast and downblast), wall and inline exhaust fans, kitchen/grease-rated exhaust units, fume and dust extraction fans, and smoke/heat exhaust ventilators (SHEVs) for life-safety. Aerodynamic ratings are commonly referenced to ISO 5801 or ANSI/AMCA 210; smoke and heat exhaust duties typically add EN 12101-3 high-temperature classification (e.g. F300/F400). EU-market units commonly use IE-class motors (IE3, or IE2 with an inverter, IE4 in higher bands per Regulation (EU) 2019/1781) and meet ErP/Ecodesign where in scope; ATEX-rated builds apply to flammable or explosive extracts.
Construction is matched to the extract: galvanised, mild, stainless or coated steel, grease-resistant or corrosion-resistant finishes, IP-rated motors (often out of the airstream for hot or contaminated air via bifurcated designs), bird/insect mesh, backdraught dampers and weather cowls. Drive can be direct, belt or EC/variable-speed.
