Connectors
Automotive connectors are the separable electrical interfaces that join harness segments, modules, sensors and actuators within a vehicle. They combine a housing, terminals and seals into a system that must survive vibration, thermal cycling, moisture and fluids while maintaining low, stable contact resistance. Buyers across the EU and GCC source connectors for harness assembly, module manufacturing and aftermarket repair, typically against an OEM-referenced part or an equivalent.
Connectors are generally specified by circuit count (way count), current rating, sealed versus unsealed design, terminal series and mating system. Automotive connector systems are commonly validated to SAE/USCAR-2 performance requirements, with terminals crimped per SAE/USCAR-21 and high-voltage EV connectors referencing USCAR-37; component-level reliability often follows AEC-Q-style qualification, with environmental loads aligned to ISO 16750. IATF 16949 quality systems are the norm at qualified suppliers.
Materials and construction matter: housings in PA66/PBT (often glass-filled), tin- or gold-plated copper-alloy terminals, silicone or perimeter seals for IP67/IP69K, and connector position assurance (CPA) and terminal position assurance (TPA) features. HV connectors add shielding, HVIL interlock pins and touch-safe geometry.
Options include sealed and unsealed families, header/receptacle pairs, right-angle and panel-mount variants, colour coding and keying to prevent mismating.
