Centrifugal Ventilation Systems
Centrifugal ventilation systems draw air into the centre of a rotating impeller and discharge it radially, generating higher static pressure than axial fans. This makes them the standard choice for ducted ventilation, dust and fume extraction, kitchen and process exhaust, drying, and combustion-air duties where the system must overcome significant resistance (high Pa) at a given airflow (m3/h or CFM).
The family is defined largely by impeller geometry: backward-curved and airfoil impellers for efficiency and clean to lightly contaminated air; forward-curved (squirrel-cage) impellers for compact, lower-noise HVAC duties; and radial or radial-tipped impellers for dust-laden, abrasive or high-pressure service. Plug/plenum fans and inline cabinet fans serve air-handling applications. Aerodynamic ratings are typically referenced to ISO 5801 or ANSI/AMCA 210. EU-market units commonly use IE-class motors (IE3, or IE2 with an inverter, IE4 in higher bands per Regulation (EU) 2019/1781) and meet ErP/Ecodesign where in scope; ATEX-rated, spark-resistant builds apply to explosive or solvent-laden air.
Construction is matched to service: galvanised, mild, stainless or coated steel scrolls and impellers, abrasion- or corrosion-resistant finishes, dynamically balanced rotors, IP-rated motors, and belt, direct or EC/variable-speed drive. Single- or double-inlet and single- or double-width arrangements suit the flow and footprint.
