Alternators
Alternators are engine-driven generators that convert mechanical energy into electrical energy to charge the battery and supply the vehicle's electrical loads while the engine runs. A rotating field winding induces three-phase AC in the stator, which a rectifier bridge converts to DC, with output regulated by an internal or external voltage regulator. They serve OEM, remanufacturing and aftermarket buyers across passenger cars, commercial vehicles, buses, tractors and gensets. India's rotating-electrics base makes it a competitive source for both new and reman alternators for EU and GCC markets.
Variants are defined by system voltage (12 V or 24 V, with 48 V mild-hybrid units from a narrower base), rated output current (commonly 50-150 A for cars and up to 200 A+ for commercial and auxiliary duty), pulley type (V, multi-groove serpentine, clutch/OAP), mounting and terminal configuration. Many designs carry an internal regulator and integrated rectifier, and some support LIN/COM communication for smart charging. Electromagnetic compatibility is generally addressed under UN/ECE R10, quality management under IATF 16949, and environmental robustness under ISO 16750; rectifier and regulator electronics may use AEC-Q qualified parts.
Construction uses die-cast aluminium end frames, copper stator windings, slip-ring rotors, sealed bearings and heat-sinked diode packs, with sealing and ventilation matched to under-bonnet temperature and ingress. Pulley ratio, fan type and bracket geometry are configured to the engine.
