- When does a shaft-mounted reducer beat a foot-mounted gearbox?
- An SMSR is generally the better choice when the drive sits on a conveyor or screw shaft and you want to avoid a separate base, coupling and alignment: it mounts on the shaft, reacts torque through an arm, and tolerates the misalignment and start-up shock of bulk handling. Size it on AGMA service factor, not just steady torque β uniform load may need SF 1.0, but moderate or heavy shock and long daily run hours typically push selection to SF 1.4-2.0. High ambient or dusty environments also nudge the frame and lubrication choice upward. A foot-mounted unit tends to win where the load is independently supported or where higher ratios and precise output positioning matter more than mounting simplicity.
- What is the typical MOQ for shaft-mounted reducers?
- It depends on frame size and ratio. For small and mid catalogue frames, typical MOQ starts around 20-50 units per size/ratio; for larger conveyor-duty frames it can fall to 5-10 units, and engineered builds are quotable in low single digits. Mixed-size orders consolidated under one spec package usually accept smaller quantities per line.
- Which certifications and test reports can be supplied?
- Where specified, partner manufacturers supply CE marking under the Machinery Directive, ATEX/IECEx documentation for hazardous-area duty, ISO 9001 quality coverage, and gear load and efficiency test reports referencing AGMA/ISO 6336. Material and heat-treatment traceability on the gear set can be arranged on request.
- What ratios, mounting positions and lubrication are available?
- Ratios typically run about 5:1 to 25:1 in two stages and up to roughly 40:1 in three stages, in horizontal, vertical and tie-rod mounting. Input can be an IEC motor adapter, V-belt drive or free input shaft; output is a keyed hollow bore or shrink disc. A backstop suits inclined conveyors. Lubrication is mineral or synthetic PAO, ISO VG 220/320, with the grade and the AGMA service factor matched to ambient temperature, run hours and shock load.

- Catalogue frames usually take 4-7 weeks to manufacture, test and pack; engineered or large units run 10-14 weeks. Full CIF to Rotterdam, Antwerp, Jebel Ali or Dammam is typically 8-12 weeks door-to-door for standard units and 14-20 weeks for engineered specials.
