- When is a parallel-shaft gearbox the right choice over an inline or right-angle unit?
- Choose parallel-shaft when you want the high efficiency of helical gearing (commonly ~96-98 percent per stage) plus an offset output that side-mounts against the machine and fits directly onto a driven shaft via a hollow bore. Inline (coaxial) units are more compact axially but put the output on the same line; right-angle bevel-helical units suit a 90-degree layout. For conveyors, agitators and shaft-mounted drives, parallel-shaft is usually the most practical fit.
- What's the MOQ for parallel-shaft gearboxes?
- It depends on frame size and ratio. Large engineered parallel-shaft units: MOQ can start at 1-5 pieces per size. Smaller standard frames and gearmotors to catalogue: typical MOQ starts around 20-50 pieces depending on manufacturer and configuration. Mixed-size orders under one spec package generally accept smaller quantities per line.
- Which certifications and compliance options are available?
- Where specified, partner manufacturers supply CE marking under the Machinery Directive, ATEX/IECEx for hazardous-area duty, and ISO 9001 quality systems. Gear-rating documentation to AGMA 2101 / ISO 6336, load and efficiency test reports, and material traceability can be provided. IP55/IP65 ingress and specific finishes are available where the application requires them.
- What ratios, mountings and output options can be configured?
- Two- and three-stage trains cover wide ratios, from about 1.25:1 to 8:1 single-stage up to roughly 200:1 and beyond combined. Hollow output shafts take keyed bores or keyless shrink-disc fittings; solid shafts and flanges are alternatives. Inputs accept IEC/NEMA adapters, servo flanges or free input shafts, with foot, flange and shaft-mounted (torque-arm) positions. Lubrication is ISO VG 220/320 and service factor is selected per AGMA SF.
- Do your partners supply to OEMs and to end-client specifications?
- A subset of Himalay's partner network supplies to OEMs in material handling, cement, sugar and bulk-handling, building to their drawings and approved-vendor requirements. Share your spec or drawing at inquiry stage and we match a qualified partner; supplier audits can be arranged on a development track where an end client requires them.
- How long does a parallel-shaft gearbox order take?
- Catalogue gearmotors and standard frames: typically 6-10 weeks manufacture, test and packaging. Larger engineered units: 12-16 weeks. Full CIF to Rotterdam, Antwerp, Jebel Ali or Dammam is typically 8-12 weeks door-to-door for standard product, and 14-20 weeks for engineered or large units.
