    Gear transmissions used in boats, tugs, and marine propulsion systems.

    Marine gearboxes transmit power from a marine diesel or gas engine to the propeller shaft (or to auxiliary equipment), providing speed reduction, directional reversing and, in most propulsion units, a clutch for ahead, neutral and astern. A reverse-reduction gearbox pairs a reduction gear train with two clutch packs so the output can be driven ahead or astern at the same reduction ratio and torque, while pure reduction or power-take-off variants serve specific duties. The reduction lets a high-speed engine swing a larger, slower, more efficient propeller.

    The family covers marine transmission (reverse-reduction) gearboxes for displacement and planing craft, marine PTO and PTI drives for shaft generators, pumps and hydraulics, and dedicated reduction gears.     How do I choose between a direct, reduction and reverse-reduction marine gearbox?
    Match the gearbox to the propeller and engine. A reverse-reduction gearbox is the standard propulsion unit: it gives ahead, neutral and astern plus the reduction needed to turn an efficient, slower propeller, typically around 1.5:1 to 3:1 for fast craft and higher for workboats. A pure reduction gear suits installations where reversing is handled elsewhere (for example controllable-pitch propellers). Size on engine power and rpm at the gearbox's continuous duty rating, not peak, and confirm any classification margin.
    What's the MOQ for marine gearboxes?
    It depends on rating and configuration. Larger propulsion and engineered units can be supplied in small quantities, as few as a handful per spec, because they are effectively built to order. Smaller standard auxiliary and PTO drives carry higher MOQs, often tens of units per configuration, where tooling amortises over volume. Share the engine, rpm and ratio and the partner will quote a realistic minimum for your case.
    Can the gearboxes be supplied to classification-society requirements?
    Where specified and partner-dependent, units can be built, documented and presented for survey by an IACS classification society such as Lloyd's Register, DNV, ABS or IRS, including gear load-rating evidence, material certificates and test records. Approval scope is project-specific and arranged case by case; CE under the Machinery Directive and ISO 9001 quality systems are available where specified.     What ratios, controls and PTO options are configurable?
    Reduction ratios are selected to suit propeller and engine, commonly about 1.5:1 to 3:1 for planing and semi-displacement craft and higher for displacement workboats. Control can be mechanical, hydraulic or electronic, with trolling/slow-speed valves where manoeuvring is critical. Power-take-off and power-take-in ports for shaft generators, pumps and hydraulics, plus output-shaft angle and coupling options, can be configured. Confirm rotation, offset and cooling against the installation.
    Do your partners supply to OEMs and customise to drawing?

    How long does a marine gearbox order take?
    Catalogue auxiliary and smaller propulsion units already tooled: roughly 6-10 weeks manufacture, test and packaging, then freight. Engineered propulsion gearboxes or class-surveyed builds: typically 12-18 weeks, longer where third-party survey scheduling applies. Full CIF to Rotterdam, Antwerp, Jebel Ali or Dammam is generally 8-12 weeks door-to-door for standard items and 14-20 weeks for engineered or surveyed units.
